♡GOOD FOR ALL NIGHT♡
WG Kunst, Amsterdam NL, 2023♡GOOD FOR ALL NIGHT♡ addresses intimate modes of expression and draws from the knowledge and history of queer semantics, spaces, and aesthetics. Examining values, societal and otherwise, and the mechanisms that grant access to queer vernaculars and spaces, the work is informed by the varied, deviant, and often enigmatic ways in which desire can manifest itself in both public and private realms.
Recounting a series of innocent-looking coins or tokens that were used to grant access to clandestine queer spaces, this body of work presents a collection of sculptural coins featuring an amorphous portrait of the fool—a trickster and maverick. As an embracer of joyous and playful perversion, someone who scrapes the sticky floors of the sex club, the character embodies the slippery ways desires and longings manifest and flip. Simultaneously alluring and provoking, the character denounces the images and values we have created for ourselves, values that are determined by systems of morality that regulate our longing and desire.
